THEORY OF HALF WAVE RECTIFIER πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

                   RECTIFIER

Hey friends !!!  I'm back with another interesting invention in the world of electronics.
Being a part of this mesmerizing world of great and unbelievable  technology ,we need to have a brief knowledge about the small parts of electronic world......
here i'll try my best to explain you about one of those inventions "THE RECTIFIER"  .

Junction diode as a rectifier.

Rectifier: The process of converting alternating current into direct current is called rectification and the device used for this process is called rectifier .
Principle of rectifier: when a p-n junction diode is forward biased , it  offers less resistance and a current flows through it ; but  when it reverse biased , it offers high resistance and almost no current flows through it.This unidirectional property of a diode enables it to be used as a rectifier .When a.c signal is fed to a diode ,the diode is forward biased during the positive half cycle and a current flows through it. During the negative half cycle ,the diode is reverse biased and it does not  conduct . Thus the signal is rectified.

half wave rectifier.
Working :When a.c is supplied to the primary, the secondary of the transformer supplies desired alternating voltage across the circuit .During the positive half cycle of a.c ,the one end is positive and the other end is negative. The diode is forward biased and the current flows through the external resistance. As the input voltage increases or decreases ,the current also increases or decreases and does output voltage across the load .Output voltage across load is of same waveform as the positive half wave of the input .During the negative half cycle ,one end becomes negative and the other positive.
The diode is reverse biased and no current flows. No voltage appears across load .In the next positive half cycle, again we get output voltage .The output voltage is unidirectional but pulsating .Since the voltage across the load appears only during the positive half cycle of the input a.c .This process is called half wave rectification and the arrangement is called half wave rectifier.
